Sending InMails with Dux-Soup

What’s an InMail?

To put it short, InMails are messages sent directly to a LinkedIn person you are not connected to. InMails are widely used by recruiters who cannot use invitations to connect with potential candidates. It can also be used by other users to build a relationship. In order to use InMail, you have to upgrade to a Premium LinkedIn account and you will receive a specific number of InMail credits based on your subscription type:
  1. Career: 5
  2. Business: 15
  3. Sales Navigator: 20
  4. Recruiter Lite: 30

Note: you can accumulate InMail credits from month to month, but they will expire after 90 days.

One of the benefits of InMails is that you can track how your messages are performing on the InMails Analytics page and use the stats to improve your messaging. Also, you can create InMail templates and share it with your colleagues, or it leave only accessible to yourself. Again, the template feature is great as it saves loads of time if you need to contact 100 candidates a day.

InMail vs Connection Request

As covered earlier, InMail can be used by Premium LinkedIn users who want to connect with people outside their professional network, recruiters or candidates. In an InMail, you can have up to 2,000 characters in the body and you must enter the subject line to send it.

A connection message is a free message that you can send to 2nd and 3rd degree connections asking them to connect. It has a maximum length of just 300 characters and you don’t need to have LinkedIn Premium account to send it.

So why do you want to send an InMail? Well, InMails prove to have better response rates and will ensure that you are noticed amongst other types of messages.

Sending InMail with Dux-Soup

To access InMail feature, please click on Dux-Soup icon on your browser and click on Options

You should land on “Automated Actions” page. On this page, enable the option to send InMails to your 2nd and 3rd degree contacts:

Here you enter your subject line and the main message. When it comes to sending an InMail, you need to make sure your message stands out. Just imagine how many InMails and connection requests one receives every day on LinkedIn? That’s why your message needs to be relevant and (most importantly!) personalised.

According to the research conducted by Business LinkedIn team, here are some tips for InMails that guarantee more opens:

  1. Keep the subject line short and sweet
  2. Personalise your message — it’s easy to tell when you receive an automated, scripted message because it has no character to it.

What’s great about Dux-Soup is that it has various markers to help you customize every message and tailor it to every individual LinkedIn profile.

When your message is ready, close the options window and go back to your Sales Navigator or Recruiter account. As an example, I will be using Sales Navigator account. Go to your Sales Navigator account and click on the search field. From here, select to search for leads

Here you need to choose your search filters. Choose as many filters as you like to make sure you end up with the list of relevant profiles: pay attention to the industry, the job roles you want to target and the location of your target lead.

Once you are happy with your filters, then click on “Search”

As you see from the example, my search returned 1,129 relevant profiles. The next step is to click on Dux-Soup icon and choose Visit Profiles

Now Dux-Soup will start sending InMails to each profile in your list until it’s used all of your credits.

Automated InMails is a handy feature which we believe Dux-Soup users will find useful, especially those using LinkedIn Recruiter. As recruitment companies are sending hundreds of InMails per day to reach out to potential candidates, Dux-Soup will take away the hard work from you and send automated messages in bulk to your selected list of candidates. Duck Tales

We love to help our customers and this is one of the ways to learn about them more. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised when one of our customers, Chris, contacted us with a problem and ended up sharing a fascinating experience of his life:

“Did I tell you I met my wife at a bar called Duck Soup in 1982?”

Needless to say, we were intrigued and asked to share more: when, how, why Duck Soup?

“In 1982 I was playing rugby with the Fort Lauderdale Knights. Our bar was the Duck Soup and as you probably know after every rugby game both teams meet in a bar afterwards to have a few beers and discuss the bad calls the referee made on the day. In walk three Swedish girls on vacation together. I ended up marrying the one, my friend Sam married the other. So when I found Dux-Soup, I knew I had the answer to my LinkedIn Marketing!”

That’s a story, isn’t it? They have been married for 36 years and counting, and we hope Chris will stay Dux-Soup’s user twice as long!

Chris, if you are reading this, Dux-Soup is sending you and your wife best wishes!
