Drip Marketing with Dux-Soup Turbo

Drip Marketing with Dux-Soup Turbo

We have updated this blog to reflect new Dux-Soup Turbo and drip campign features. If you want to learn about current Dux-Soup drip marketing possibilities, read the blog about how to create smart LinkedIn lead generation campaigns.

Why drip marketing?

The likelihood of contacting a prospect and them immediately being ready, or able, to buy your product or service is extremely low.

Drip marketing allows you to stay fresh in the minds of your prospects even if they are not currently in the market for what your business is selling.

By continually staying in touch through drip marketing, you hope that one day, when they're ready, they'll remember your product and contact you with the intent of purchasing.

The aim of drip marketing is to position yourself as a trusted vendor. You establish that trust through communicating relevant information or opinion about your company through a steady stream of marketing messages (including LinkedIn messages, social media posts, emails etc.)

Dux-Soup and Drip Marketing

With Dux-Soup Turbo, you can extend the lead gen process by designing and executing an automated drip campaign to your LinkedIn connections.

Automating this second (post connection) stage of your lead gen funnel saves you valuable time by qualifying who is really interested in your product or service.

And you retain the control to stop the campaign, and follow up on a 1:1 basis, when a prospect responds to your messages. So you’re only dealing with prospects with intent to buy what you have to offer.

In the blog we’ll talk through how to set everything up in Dux-Soup Turbo but before all that there are some fundamental steps to put in place before turning to Dux.

Step 1: Pick your campaign goal and decide who is the target audience

This is super important so ensure you give this step the right amount of attention. Without accurate targeting, based on your ideal persona(s), your campaign won’t produce the results you need.  Read this case study which talks about the importance of getting your targeting right, plus some practical tips on how to go about it.

Check out our integration with LeadFuze if you’re struggling to build a list - this article shows how you can build a list and import it into Turbo.

Step 2: Create your personalised connection message and automated  follow-up messages

Getting your messaging right is also paramount to success. Read this blog which gives great tips on how to create effective and personalised connection / automated messages. Spend time on these - nothing will kill your campaign more quickly than messages that look like they’re from a bot.

These first two steps aren’t always that easy but time spent here will get you better results.

So - you’ve done the groundwork and laid the foundations. Now onto setting up Dux-Soup for automated drip campaigns…

Setting up a Drip campaign with Dux-Soup

As we said previously, the reason for a drip campaign is to distribute carefully managed information about your product or service to your target prospects - so that when they want to buy (or discuss further) you are top of mind.

The rest of the blog is dedicated to how to set up drip campaigns with the tool.

Setting up your campaign messages

You’ve crafted your connection message and are all ready to send out these automated connection messages to your target list.

BUT post connection (i.e. when your prospect connects with you and becomes a 1st degree connection) - you want to carry on the automated outreach until a prospect reaches out to you and it’s time to switch to manual.

Dux-Soup Turbo allows you to set up a series of up to 5 post connection messages to send after a connection has been added to your network.

  • Note that all follow-up messages are scheduled from the time the connection request is accepted. After that you have up to 31 days  (or longer if you type manually) to send out up to 5 messages
  • Only newly accepted connections will receive the automated follow-up messages
  • Dux-Soup automatically stops sending messages when a response from the prospect is detected

To find out more about how to write your automated follow-up messages and use Dux-Soup message markers, please refer to these templates

Tip: You can use the follow-up function for manually added connections by enabling this option in Dux-Soup:

Who gets my automated follow-up messages?

When you first enable the Automated Follow-up option, Dux-Soup will record a timestamp of the current time and date. Any 1st-degree connections that are added after this point will be scheduled to receive the configured follow-up messages with Dux-Soup.

How are delays measured?

You can delay your follow-up messages, however, please keep in mind that all delays are measured from the time the prospect accepts your connection request and that these delays aren’t cumulative.  Learn more about follow-up delays here.

How does Dux-Soup know who has accepted or responded?

With Automated Follow-ups enabled, Dux-Soup will regularly open a new Chrome window to check for new LinkedIn connections and messages.

Please allow the Message Bridge to run and don’t minimize this window so Dux-Soup can check all your new messages and connections.

Dux-Soup adds a 🦆-default-accepted system tag to the new connections when it schedules the Follow-up messages:

Now all you have to do is to wait until you get a response from your LinkedIn prospects! When a LinkedIn prospect responds to your follow-up message, Dux-Soup adds a 🦆-default-responded system tag, which will be used to skip those profiles.

Keep in mind that in order to send an automatic follow-up, Dux-Soup carries out an auto-visit to the profile first before it sends the message. These visits are added to the daily visit limit (Options, Throttling tab). Also, you have to be logged into your LinkedIn account and have the Chrome browser active for follow-ups to go through.

How does Dux-Soup send the follow-up messages?

You can see that Dux-Soup is opening a new browser tab when it executes a new message command. After an automatic follow-up message is sent to a profile, a 🦆-default-followup-1..5 tag is added with the corresponding number to reflect the position in the queue.

Which Inbox does a Dux-Soup monitor? Sales Navigator or regular LinkedIn?

Whichever platform you send out your connection requests with (regular LinkedIn or Sales Navigator), Dux-Soup will monitor both mailboxes for replies. Currently Dux-Soup can only send out follow-ups through the regular LinkedIn platform (not Sales Navigator). Learn more about how LinkedIn organizes Sales Navigator and your regular Inbox here.

Managing your drip campaign manually

When you are busy with other work on your computer (or having a conversation with your colleagues) you might want to stop Dux-Soup’s Message Bridge checks from popping out every 10 minutes. In this case, simply turn off the automated follow-up option in Dux-Soup Options, Actions tab.

Once you are ready to resume your drip campaign, run two Message Bridge checks manually by clicking on “Check Regular” or “Check Sales Nav” buttons to make sure Dux-Soup checks all the responses you have received and takes out responded profiles from the automated actions loop:

Once you have completed these checks, you can enable the automated follow up option back again (Actions tab) and Dux-Soup will send all follow-ups that are due.

Another option to temporarily stop the automated drip campaign is to set some time “off” in Options, Planner tab. Read more about Dux-Soup Planner here.

Monitoring your campaign with Dux-Soup

Once you have launched your drip campaign, we bet you’ll want to see if everything is set-up correctly!

You can check your follow-up queue in the Dux-Dash Queued Activity or by following this link. Dux-Soup’s Queued Activity will show the date, the URL and the type of action that is in the queue. If you click down the arrow, you’ll see your scheduled follow-up message:

Note: The follow-up messages will be sent out according to Dux-Soup Planner and Throttling settings.

To see your progress, open the Dux-Soup Activity Log in Dux-Dash or follow this link. It also displays the same details as Queued Activity and adds a “success” flag so you can see if your action has been executed or not.

If you want to create a new drip campaign, feel free! All follow-up messages are scheduled from the point when the connection request has been accepted. That means it is possible to change new messages without impacting the messages that have been scheduled previously.

However, we recommend cancelling all pending invites when you change your follow-up audience to avoid confusion.

Tip: You can delete certain or all follow-up messages via Dux-Soup Queued Activity.
